CuppaPug Expands Rescue Mission: Adorable Pugs Await Their Forever Homes
Escondido, California / Salford, Greater Manchester / London — CuppaPug, the world-famous, all-pink pug café that delights visitors with its lovable rescue pugs, is taking its rescue efforts to heartwarming new heights. Known for its Instagram-worthy aesthetic and its commitment to animal welfare, the café has launched an exciting initiative allowing customers to apply to adopt pugs in need of loving homes.
Paws and Pink Bandanas: Pugs Awaiting Adoption
Visitors to CuppaPug can now meet adorable rescue pugs donning pink bandanas, each one ready for adoption. The initiative has already created heartwarming success stories across CuppaPug’s locations:
• Escondido, California: Four puppies surrendered after an accidental pregnancy spent six weeks enjoying puppy socials at the café. Customers helped socialize the puppies before they found forever homes. This effort also raised an incredible $2,000 for San Diego Pug Rescue.
• Salford, Greater Manchester: Two pugs, tragically left homeless after their owner passed away, were saved from being sold by an untrustworthy party. Thanks to CuppaPug’s intervention, these pups are now on the path to loving homes.
• London: Rescued pugs Porky and Buzz, who arrived separately, bonded while in foster care at the café and are now inseparable “brothers.”
A Mission of Love and Second Chances
CuppaPug Co-owner Aaron Carty shared:
“Pug rescue has always been at the heart of everything we do. Our own rescue pug, Gizmo, inspired the creation of CuppaPug despite his heart conditions, which may one day require a £30,000 operation. Our unique position—welcoming over 120,000 visitors in the last year—has allowed us to connect potential adoptees with these amazing dogs, ensuring they go to the best homes.”
To ensure the perfect match, CuppaPug’s adoption policy requires prospective adopters to visit the café to meet the pugs. This hands-on approach allows the team to assess compatibility and ensures that applicants are fully prepared for the commitment of pug ownership.
Global Partnerships to Save More Pugs
CuppaPug has joined forces with Donna Cook, a renowned pug rescuer who has been saving dogs from China for over a decade; having saved more than 56 in the last year. This partnership is set to amplify efforts and save even more pugs in need. Particularly with Thelma and Edna, two pugs who have been waiting for funds to get them to the UK for that past year.
The pugs in China are becoming much more common with the meat trade, meat markets and slaughter houses. The torture these pugs endure as part of this cruelty is shocking beyond belief. We believe we can make a tremendous difference to these pug’s lives under our CuppaPug ethos and umbrella.
