At CuppaPug, the Pug Cafe, we are committed to prioritising the welfare and well-being of all animals, especially our beloved pugs. We believe that animals deserve to be treated with kindness, respect, and compassion.

The resident pugs are our own pugs, they have all grown up together, they live together and spend all of their tims together wth the owners. Half of the resident pugs are rescue pugs.

We ensure that our pugs are provided with a safe and comfortable environment where they can thrive and enjoy their time. Our cafe is designed to meet their specific needs, including appropriate spaces for resting, playing, and socializing. We have dedicated staff members who are trained to handle and care for the pugs in a gentle and responsible manner.

We understand the importance of maintaining the health of our pugs. Therefore, we make sure to provide them with regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care. Our pugs are fed nutritious diets that meet their dietary requirements, and we always have fresh water available for them.

We promote responsible breeding practices and do not support any forms of animal exploitation or unethical breeding. We encourage adopting pugs from reputable rescue organizations or shelters, and we work closely with our charity partner the National Pug Protection Trust, where £1 from each booking is donated towards the rescue and rehoming of pugs.

The National Pug Protection Trust also visit the cafe regularly to check in on the welfare of our pugs and host training and education sessions for our customers.

We prioritize the mental and emotional well-being of our pugs by providing them with socialization opportunities and mental stimulation. They are given ample time for interaction with humans and other dogs, allowing them to develop positive social skills and reduce any feelings of isolation or anxiety.

We strictly adhere to local animal welfare laws and regulations, and we continuously strive to exceed these standards. We are committed to educating our staff and customers about animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and the unique needs of pugs.

We also believe in giving back to the animal community. We actively support animal charities and rescue organizations through donations, fundraising events, and awareness campaigns.

To ensure the well-being of the puppies, we kindly request your strict compliance with all health and safety requirements.

During the session, we ask that you remain seated to maintain a secure environment for both participants and puppies. It is imperative that you extend respect towards our dedicated staff and diligently follow their instructions. Any disregard for these protocols, which may compromise the health and safety of the puppies, will result in an immediate request for your departure.

Handling puppies

We kindly request your attentive adherence to staff instructions on the proper handling of puppies.
Allow puppies to approach you at their own pace, promoting familiarity with their environment before any direct handling to minimize potential fright.
When handling puppies, please remain seated to ensure their safety, as heights can be intimidating for them.
Exercise utmost care and consideration while handling puppies, prioritizing their well-being throughout the interaction. Your cooperation in following these guidelines is essential for creating a positive and secure experience for both puppies and participants.

Sleeping and napping

Puppies may experience fatigue during a session, especially after an active day. Kindly acknowledge and respect their need for a nap break.
While puppies may enjoy attention and cuddles, if a puppy falls asleep in your arms, please allow a staff member to gently return them to their designated resting area once your cuddle session concludes.
Recognizing the importance of sleep in a puppy's development, we ask that you refrain from disturbing them when they are sleeping. Your cooperation in maintaining a quiet environment during their nap time is crucial for their well-being.

Food and water

Kindly allow puppies the freedom to eat and drink undisturbed.
Periodically, treats will be offered under the supervision of our staff.
Refrain from feeding puppies unless explicit approval has been granted by a staff member. Your adherence to these guidelines ensures the well-monitored and healthy consumption of food and treats for our puppies.

Environment and noises

Kindly lend your attentive ear to the instructions provided by our staff regarding the establishment of a safe and secure environment for the puppies.

Due to their small size and occasional high energy levels, exercise caution when standing or moving about during the session.

In order to promote a conducive environment for the puppies' development and socialisation, we kindly request that you refrain from shouting, making loud noises, or causing loud bangs.

Your mindfulness in this regard is crucial to the well-being of our puppies.
